JAK's at the Junction: the coolest liquor store in Mission
JAK’s Beer Wine & Spirits at the Junction Shopping Centre is the coolest liquor store in Mission — literally. It boasts a spacious walk-in cooler (1,500 sq.ft!) to keep beer and cider ice cold, along with 100 feet of additional refrigeration for wine and craft beer. Looking for something refreshing en route to Harrison Hot Springs, a summer BBQ, or dinner with friends? Look no further.
With over four decades of experience in liquor retail, and 12 other locations across BC, the family behind JAK’s dreamed up the best features for their newest store in Mission. With 6,000 square feet to work with, they had the space to do it! Now it’s full of the staple products one would expect, a unique selection of old and new world wines, and also the greatest selection of craft beer in Mission — and arguably the Fraser Valley but you’ll have to visit JAK’s to decide for yourself.
Before customers even have a chance to check out the walk-in cooler, they’ll be greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff who are passionate about all things beer, wine and spirits. The team is led by Kirill Maksimov, who is new to the Fraser Valley but not to JAK’s.
“I truly enjoy connecting with our customers, whether they’re looking to try a new product, learn more about our whisky selection, or we’re helping them find their old favourite,” said Maksimov. “What I really love about working in liquor retail is that it’s about much more than liquid in a bottle — it’s about history, people, and culture, and we can find common ground through that.”
To make more connections in the community, Maksimov and his team are planning a grand opening celebration at their store on Saturday, July 23 from 12pm-5pm. Take a stroll through the walk-in cooler, enjoy beer and wine tastings, along with a slice (or two!) of Papa John’s Pizza. Because JAK’s knows nothing pairs better than pizza and a cold beer on a hot day.
When asked for his personal favourite summer beverage, Maksimov strayed from beer and suggested a JAK’s exclusive: Provincial Spirits Coconut Pineapple Cherry. “It’s a ready to drink cocktail, and it’s a local product and we like to support our local producers and makers,” added Maksimov.
